Due to its rich history, Kos has many impressive historical sites. Structures of Ancient Kos are scattered throughout the modern capital of Kos Town, including sanctuaries, temples, a stoa, an agora, and a stadium, as well as Roman baths, manors, homes, and a conservatory. The most important site in Kos Town is the Asklipeion, a complex of ancient monuments of 3 rd century BC, such as an altar, temples, and baths. The Medieval Castle of Neratzia is located at the entrance of Kos Port, while the Avenue of the Palm Trees is a wonderful place for a morning or evening stroll. One of the most visited sites in the capital is the Plane Tree of Hippocrates, where he used to teach and treat his patients. Kos Town also has a number of mosques, churches and museums that are worth visiting. In Kefalos, we suggest going to the Paleochristian basilicas, while in Kardamena you can admire the ancient ruins.

Kos is a beach enthusiast’s paradise, with long stretches of sand and ideal conditions for water sports. Lambi and Psalidi are two very popular beaches located close to the capital town, while the beach of Thermes, south of Kos Town is famous for its hot springs. Kardamena is a beautiful long beach and one of the most popular on the island. Close to Kardamena Beach are the beaches of Paradissos, Kamila, Agios Stefanos and Kamari, which, apart from popular Paradissos, are quieter alternatives to the much-frequented Kardamena Beach. Kefalos Beach and Marmari Beach are quite lovely, with soft sand and clear waters, while Mastichari Beach is famous for its Caribbean-like appearance. Tigaki Beach spans along 10 kilometers of shore, making it very easy to find a nice place to swim and sunbathe. The best beaches for windsurfing and surfing are Agios Theologos and Tigaki.
