Athens is a magical city, one of the most ancient in the world, with a long and rich history. Today, it is a modern metropolis, where old and new fuse, creating a unique vacation destination. Athens is delightfully surprising, lively and enchanting, just ask anyone you know who has already experienced it.

If you are coming to Athens for a holiday or a business trip, you will require comfortable and convenient accommodation that will allow you to tour the city and reach all destinations easily. Vacation Greece has a wide variety of hotels in Athens that can provide you with exactly what you need. Apart from our quality hotels in Athens center, we also have hotels near the Athens Airport and in the suburbs of Athens, such as Piraeus, Faliro, Kifissia, Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Lagonissi, and Sounion.

Athens is the ancient sightseeing capital of Europe, with an abundance of archaeological sites and monuments scattered throughout the city. The Athens Acropolis is celebrated throughout the world and its monuments are considered architectural masterpieces. The Parthenon, the trademark of Athens, is simply breathtaking.

The Acropolis Hill is also home to the Erechtheion, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Propylae, as well as the Herod Atticus Odeon, the Theater of Dionysus, the Asklepeion, the Ancient Agora and more. Apart from the Acropolis Hill, you should also visit the many other ancient sites of the city, such as the Academy of Plato, the Pnyx, the Olympeion, and the Marble Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. Athens is also embellished by its many neoclassical buildings, including Zappeion Hall, the Parliament Building – as well as the traditionally-dressed Evzones who guard the Tomb of the Unkonwn Soldier in front of the Parliament Building – and the Library, Academy, and University Buildings on Panepistimiou Street.

Many Metro stations have been transformed into museums, since many of the artefacts discovered during their construction are displayed in special cases inside the stations. Athens has a myriad of museums, such as the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum, which are considered some of the finest in the world. The old neighborhoods of Athens located at the foot of the Acropolis Hill, such as Plaka, Psiri, and Thisseion are ideal for afternoon strolls and evening entertainment. Outside the Athens center, you can visit the marvellous Temple of Poseidon in Sounion and the excellent ancient cites in Vravrona and Elefsina.

There are no beaches in the center of Athens, but the ones located on the coasts of Attica are certainly easy to reach by bus or tram car. Many of our hotels outside Athens center are located on these beaches. There are lovely beaches on the southern coast of Attica, in the areas of Alimos, Glyfada, Varkiza, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Anavissos, Lagoni s si, Sounion and Saronida. On the eastern coast, we recommend visiting the beaches of Loutsa, Nea Makri, Porto Rafti, Rafina, Oropos and Schinias, while on the western Attica shore, you can have a nice swim in the areas of Megara, Megalo Pefko, Alepochori, and Kineta.
